Robert Arthur

Guitarist with Jeff Bates

For the past 18 years, Robert Arthur has toured and recorded with many of Nashville’s rising stars.  He moved to Nashville in January of 1992 a few years after graduating from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s degree in Music with a classical guitar emphasis.  Since then, he’s played on hundreds of recording sessions with both acoustic and electric guitar.

As a songwriter, Robert has had 2 major publishing deals, first with EMI from 1994 to 1999 and for the last 5 years with Baccerstick Records.  During that time he’s had dozens of his songs recorded by such artists as Brad Paisley, Mark Chestnutt, Trace Adkins, and many others.

Between songwriting gigs, Robert has toured on electric and acoustic guitar with Nashville artists Melodie Crittenden and Brad Paisley, and for the last 5 years he’s been playing electric guitar for Jeff Bates.

When he’s not on the road with Jeff, Robert also currently works a couple of days a week for Brad Paisley, helping him manage his farm.

“James obviously knows great tone by the amps he has created.  Now he has successfully stepped into the world of pedals with the tightdrive….an extremely versatile distortion pedal that covers all the bases. The EQ is very sensitive and responsive.  My favorite control is the tight control. To my ears it gives the tone some of the characteristics of a great compressor, but without squashing the signal or any other undesired things sometimes associated with compression.  A great sounding and well designed pedal. I highly recommend it.”  –Robert Arthur
